Spring jobs for the
garden
It's never too
early to start planning ahead.
Spring is an
inspiring time of year when green shoots are making
their way through the last of the winter cold
spells, and the garden is alive with daffodils,
tulips and returning spring bulbs.
There are a few
jobs you can do now to get your garden in shape for
the summer months. Here is a list of top 'must do'
jobs for March and April:
Grow your own
vegetables
Now is the perfect time to buy your seed
potatoes ready to plant out in March and April, and
you can also sow a number of other favourites from
seed including carrots, leeks and garlic.
Pot up for
colour
You can plant out bulbs in pots for instant
Spring colour. You can also save money by buying
plug bedding now and prepare for a fantastic Summer
display of bedding and hanging baskets.
Cutting back
Start tidying your garden, cutting back any dead
growth. Now is the perfect time to replace dead
plants or fill any holes in your border.
If you need a
little helping hand with your garden, planning
advice or some inspiration on revamping your
borders, why not come along to one of our courses
this year, run by local expert Ruth Tallis.
We have a range of
courses running from March until June this year.
